However, Instagram chief Adam Mosseri has made claims that suggest the app may not compete with Twitter, at least not in terms of the content that is shared on the platform.<\/span><\/p>\n In a Threads conversation with <\/span>The Verge<\/span><\/i>, Meta\u2019s Adam Mosseri stated that Threads will not encourage hard news or political discussions. He said that the \u201cincremental engagement or revenue\u201d generated by these topics would not be worth the integrity and security risks.<\/span><\/p>\n And, hence, Mosseri said that Threads\u2019 \u201cgoal isn\u2019t to replace Twitter,\u201d but to \u201ccreate a public square for communities on Instagram that never really embraced Twitter.\u201d He notes that Threads is a \u201cless angry place for conversations.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Mosseri added, \u201cPolitics and hard news are inevitably going to show up on Threads – they have on Instagram as well to some extent – but we\u2019re not going to do anything to encourage those verticals.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Furthermore, as has been clear, Meta\u2014as a whole\u2014has been attempting to move away from news. \u201cWe are also looking at things like comments on posts to help determine whether a post is political in nature and taking steps so people don\u2019t see several posts about politics in a row,\u201d Meta said last year, in a blog post.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It is worth noting that major publications such as The Wall Street Journal, CNN, and BBC have already established a significant presence on Meta\u2019s newest platform, and discussions about politics and hard news are already taking place.<\/span><\/p>\n It is also undeniable that the large number of Instagram users who have decided to try Threads may not be interested in its \u201chard news\u201d content.
