The draft regulation of the\u00a0Chartered Accountants (Amendment) Regulations was in public view since June 2, 2022 and took suggestions from various stakeholders. It was on July 1, when President Droupadi Murmu revealed the new curriculum on a day marking the 75th Chartered Accountants Day. This article aims to simplify the\u00a0Chartered Accountants (Amendment) Regulations 2023.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"ICAI_2023_Foundation_Course\"><\/span>ICAI 2023 : Foundation Course<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p id=\"1\" class=\"story_para_1\">The foremost change the law made is to allow candidates outside of India to enroll and pay the fees\u00a0as may be fixed by the Council from time to time. As a respite to the students who have already registered themselves\u00a0for the Common Proficiency Course, on or before the commencement of the Chartered Accountants (Amendment) Regulations, 2023, shall be eligible for conversion to the Foundation course but subject to conditions. For the novice, Foundation Course is the entry level course for the students enrolled in ICAI.<\/p>\n<p><nonfly class=\"article_mad\" adunit=\"NW18_ENG_Desktop\/NW18_ENG_JOBS\/NW18_ENG_JOBS_AS\/NW18_ENG_JOBS_AS_ROS_MID_728\" slotid=\"nw18-dynamic-div-8234773_2_20\" id=\"new_ad_2\"\/><\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"ICAI_2023_Intermediary_Course_Eligibilities\"><\/span>ICAI 2023: Intermediary Course\u00a0&amp; Eligibilities<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p id=\"2\" class=\"story_para_2\">It is worth noting that the\u00a0registration for the Foundation course\u00a0will be valid for\u00a0four years from the date of first eligible attempt. Further the amendment 2023 divides the Intermediary course into two groups, Group 1 and Group 2. The regulation mandates that no candidate will be registered in the course without passing the foundation course and 10+2 examination conducted by any recognised board of India or outside of India.<\/p>\n<p id=\"3\" class=\"story_para_3\">Further,\u00a0a candidates who have qualified\u00a0the entrance examination or Foundation examination or Professional Education (Examination \u2013 I) or the Common Proficiency Test, on or before the Chartered Accountants (Amendment) Regulations, 2023,\u00a0will be eligible for registration to the intermediate course under this regulation but subject to such conditions. Any candidates who have qualified the\u00a0Intermediate Examination conducted by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India or\u00a0by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India\u00a0shall also be eligible for registration to the intermediate course.<\/p>\n<p id=\"4\" class=\"story_para_4\">The amendment gives\u00a0leniency for the students with commerce stream in graduation or post graduation from recognised board to pursue intermediate course only if they have scored 55% in the examination with at least three subjects of commerce like accounting, auditing, mercantile laws, corporate laws, economics, management (including financial management), taxation (including Direct Tax Laws and Indirect Tax Laws), costing, business administration or management acccounting. Students can also pursue intermediate course with commerce stream with 60% marks\u00a0of the total marks or its equivalent grade in the examination conducted by any recognised university (including Open University)<\/p>\n<p id=\"5\" class=\"story_para_5\">A candidate with last year of graduation or post graduation will be eligible for\u00a0provisional registration to the Intermediate Course. The registration will be confirmed only when results are out. The shortlisted candidates have to share the marksheet, application form with a sum amount to be decided by the Council. To quote the regulation \u201cA candidate for registration for the Intermediate Course shall pay such fees as may be fixed by the Council which shall not exceed twenty-five thousand rupees along with his application in the form as may be approved by the Council.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"6\" class=\"story_para_6\">For admission into intermediary course, a candidate\u00a0will only be\u00a0admitted when she\/he is registered with the Board of Studies of the Institute and produces a certificate to the effect that he has undergone a study course with duration\u00a0and marksheets\u00a0of\u00a0the examination.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"ICAI_2023_Final_Course_Eligibilities\"><\/span>ICAI 2023: Final Course &amp; Eligibilities<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p id=\"7\" class=\"story_para_7\">The candidate who wants to apply for final course should qualify the intermediary course with practical training and completion of the advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills. Passing both the Group 1 and Group 2 is a must for the candidates who wants to pursue final course. The candidate has to\u00a0secures at one sitting a minimum of\u00a040%\u00a0marks in each paper of each of the groups or units and minimum of\u00a055%. Candidates who passed Group 1 examination and failed in Group 2 examination has to first qualify the second paper to sit for final course.<\/p>\n<p><nonfly class=\"article_mad\" adunit=\"NW18_ENG_Desktop\/NW18_ENG_JOBS\/NW18_ENG_JOBS_AS\/NW18_ENG_JOBS_AS_ROS_BTF_728\" slotid=\"nw18-dynamic-div-8234773_10_20\" id=\"new_ad_8\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"8\" class=\"story_para_8\">Other than the routine course, this revised ICAI syllabus has included other certificate courses as well. For instance,\u00a0 business accounting associate certificate, and an advanced integrated course on information technology and soft skills,<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"ICAI_2023_Business_Accounting_Associate_Certificate_Eligibilities\"><\/span>ICAI 2023:\u00a0Business Accounting Associate Certificate &amp; Eligibilities<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p id=\"9\" class=\"story_para_9\">Candidates interested for the business accounting associate certificate must have :<\/p>\n<p id=\"10\" class=\"story_para_10\">(a) Passed both Group 1st and Group 2nd of the Intermediate Examination<\/p>\n<p id=\"11\" class=\"story_para_11\">(b) Successfully completes Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills<\/p>\n<p id=\"12\" class=\"story_para_12\">(c) Completes the practical training as provided in these regulations<\/p>\n<p id=\"13\" class=\"story_para_13\">(d) Successfully completes the self-paced online modules as provided in these regulations.<\/p>\n<p><videocarousel\/><\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"ICAI_2023_Advanced_Integrated_Course_on_Information_Technology_Soft_Skills\"><\/span>ICAI 2023:\u00a0Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology\u00a0&amp; Soft Skills<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p id=\"14\" class=\"story_para_14\">The duration for the course is still not decided by the board. A practical training will also be given to the registered candidates.\u00a0A candidate who has passed the final examination but not completed the course on general management and communication skills\u00a0will be required to complete the advanced integrated course on information technology and soft skills.
