The company has banned these accounts in compliance with the new IT Rules 2021. The meta-owned platform banned a total of 6,508,000 WhatsApp accounts between May 1 and May 31. <br \/>During the month of April, WhatsApp, with its user base exceeding 500 million in India, took action against a staggering number of over 7.4 million problematic accounts. In May, the widely-used messaging platform received 3,912 grievance reports, including appeals for lifted bans, and addressed 297 of these cases.<br \/>The term &#8220;Accounts Actioned&#8221; refers to reports in which WhatsApp took appropriate measures based on the received report. Taking action can involve either banning an account or restoring a previously banned account as a result of the report. &#8220;This user-safety report contains details of the user complaints received and the corresponding action taken by WhatsApp, as well as WhatsApp&#8217;s own preventive actions to combat abuse on our platform,&#8221; according to the company.<br \/><span class=\"strong \">What to do if your <\/span><span class=\"strong \">WhatsApp account<\/span><span class=\"strong \"> is banned<\/span><br \/>In case your WhatsApp account is banned then you will notice a message which reads, &#8220;This account is not allowed to use WhatsApp.&#8221; If you think that your account has been banned by mistake, then you can email WhatsApp or can also tap request a review in the app. When you request a review in the app, you\u2019ll be prompted to enter a 6-digit registration code sent to you via SMS.
