(Reuters\/Dado Ruvic\/Illustration)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Booking.com announced on Tuesday its plans to conduct a trial of a trip planner, leveraging the capabilities of ChatGPT\u2019s advanced language model.<\/p>\n The testing will take place within the company\u2019s travel booking app and will enable a limited group of US travelers to ask questions and formulate itineraries.<\/p>\n Scheduled to launch on Wednesday, this new feature will utilize Booking.com\u2019s current machine-learning models to offer a range of destination and accommodation choices.<\/p>\n \u201cOur new AI Trip Planner provides us with some really exciting possibilities to help our customers plan and search for travel options in a very natural, human way,\u201d Booking.com\u2019s technology chief Rob Francis said in a statement.<\/p>\n ChatGPT, a chatbot developed by OpenAI, has been the talk of the tech industry since its launch last year.<\/p>\n This generative AI tech simulates dialogue, answers follow-up questions, acknowledges errors and challenges incorrect assumptions.<\/p>\n Booking.com plans to release an initial version of its trip planner to select members of its \u201cGenius” loyalty program in the United States in the upcoming weeks.<\/p>\n This innovative feature, powered by ChatGPT, enables users to engage in conversations and receive personalized recommendations for their travel destinations.<\/p>\n Following suit, Expedia, a competitor of Booking.com, introduced a test version of its own in-app travel planning experience driven by ChatGPT.
