The Karnataka\u00a0government has extended an\u00a0invitation to business magnate\u00a0Elon\u00a0Musk<\/a>\u00a0to set up businesses\u00a0in\u00a0the southern\u00a0state.\u00a0<\/p>\n Karnataka’s Minister\u00a0for\u00a0Commerce and\u00a0Industries,\u00a0Infrastructure MB Patil,\u00a0in\u00a0a Twitter post, wrote his\u00a0state\u00a0Karnataka\u00a0is the “ideal destination”\u00a0for\u00a0Tesla<\/a>‘s expansion\u00a0into\u00a0India.<\/p>\n “If Tesla considers setting up a plant\u00a0in\u00a0India,\u00a0Karnataka, with its great potential and capabilities, I must say is\u00a0The Destination,” he added.<\/p>\n “As\u00a0a progressive\u00a0state\u00a0and a thriving hub of\u00a0innovation and technology,\u00a0Karnataka\u00a0stands ready to support and provide the necessary facilities\u00a0for\u00a0Tesla and other ventures of\u00a0Elon\u00a0Musk,\u00a0including Starlink<\/a>,” Patil wrote, tagging\u00a0Musk’s Twitter<\/a> handle.<\/p>\n Karnataka, Patil said, is focused on being the hub\u00a0for\u00a0technology and manufacturing 5.0, to propel the\u00a0state\u00a0for\u00a0the next decades.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, during the ongoing\u00a0State\u00a0visit to the US, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Tesla and Twitter chief\u00a0Elon\u00a0Musk\u00a0and\u00a0invited him to explore opportunities\u00a0in\u00a0India\u00a0for\u00a0investments\u00a0in\u00a0electric mobility and the rapidly expanding commercial space<\/a> sector.<\/p>\n Speaking to reporters after meeting with PM Modi,\u00a0Musk, who is also CEO of SpaceX<\/a>, said he was\u00a0incredibly excited about the future of\u00a0India\u00a0and added that\u00a0India\u00a0has more promise than any large country\u00a0in\u00a0the world.<\/p>\n “I am tentatively planning to visit\u00a0India\u00a0again next year. I am looking\u00a0forward to it,”\u00a0Musk\u00a0added.<\/p>\n Musk, responding to questions from reporters, said he was confident that his car company Tesla will be\u00a0in\u00a0India\u00a0“as\u00a0soon\u00a0as\u00a0humanly possible”. “I would like to thank PM Modi\u00a0for\u00a0his support and hopefully, we will be able to announce something\u00a0in\u00a0the not-too-distant future.”<\/p>\n To a question on when Tesla will be\u00a0in\u00a0India,\u00a0Musk\u00a0said, “We don’t want to jump the gun with an announcement but it’s quite likely that there will be a significant\u00a0investment\u00a0for\u00a0India\u00a0in\u00a0the future.”<\/p>\n In\u00a0a quick counter question by reporters\u00a0asking what changed his mind about Tesla’s\u00a0investments\u00a0inIndia, he smilingly said, “I have never changed my mind”.<\/p>\n Tesla is reportedly expected to announce the location of its new factory by the end of 2023.<\/p>\n Further,\u00a0Musk\u00a0also showed\u00a0interest\u00a0in\u00a0bringing his Starlink services to\u00a0India.
