Generative AI has become more than just talk of the town. Google, Microsoft, and many others are betting big on it. Joining the AI race armed with a significant budget is none other than Amazon. According to a report by CNBC, Amazon will invest $100 million in a centre, which will help companies use generative AI. The investment aside, Amazon will also bring aboard new employees for the centre, including engineers and data scientists.
The company has made it clear that it won\u2019t be a physical centre as such but more of a program dedicated to generative AI.
\u201cAI is going to be this next wave of innovation in the cloud,\u201d AWS CEO Adam Selipsky told CNBC in an interview. \u201cIt\u2019s going to be the next big thing that pushes even more customers to want to be in the cloud. Really, you need the cloud for generative AI.\u201d
Still early days in generative AI<\/span>
Selipsky was also asked whether companies like Google, Microsoft have stolen a march in generative AI. \u201cDoes it really matter? The point is, you\u2019re three steps in, and it\u2019s a 10K race,\u201d he said.
The AWS CEO also hinted that Amazon will provide more authenticity and customers will trust it more than other generative AI services. \u201cI can\u2019t tell you how many Fortune 500 companies I\u2019ve talked to who banned ChatGPT in the enterprise,\u201d Selipsky said. \u201cBecause at least the initial versions of it just didn\u2019t have that concept of enterprise security,\u201d he added.
Microsoft and Google have been quite aggressive in launching generative AI services. While Microsoft\u2019s association with OpenAI has meant that generative AI is in Bing, Edge, Office suite of apps and more. Google has been pushing generative in Google Workspace as well as Search and Gmail.
In April this year, Amazon announced a new cloud service called Bedrock, meant for developers who can improve their software using generative AI.<\/div>\n
