Spotify is preparing to launch a new, more expensive subscription plan\u2014internally called ‘Supremium.’ The the new tier will feature high-fidelity audio\u2014matching Apple’s Lossless streaming.<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Spotify is the most popular music streaming app alongside Apple Music, and while people swear by it for its UI and the ease of discovering playlists, the service still hasn\u2019t been able to offer an equivalent to Apple\u2019s Lossless audio streaming\u2014but that could change soon.<\/span><\/p>\n

As per Bloomberg, Spotify is preparing to launch a new, more expensive subscription plan\u2014internally called \u2018Supremium\u2019\u2014and that the new tier will feature high-fidelity audio to \u201cdrive more revenue and placate investors who\u2019ve been saying the company should raise its prices.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The new tier will likely be Spotify\u2019s most expensive plan and will feature Hi-Fi audio streaming, which the company already announced in 2021. Bloomberg reports that the company delayed the Hi-Fi streaming rollout \u201cafter two of its competitors, Apple Music and Amazon Music, began offering the feature for free as part of their standard plans.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Rival streaming players, including Apple Music, already offer Lossless audio as part of their standard plan. In India, users can get access to Apple Music for Rs 99 or Rs 149 for family. In contrast, Spotify Premium costs Rs 119, Rs 149 for Duo, and Rs 179 for family. <\/span><\/p>\n

Apple Music\u2019s aggressive pricing could certainly push Spotify to offer a better deal over time as well. Moreover, Spotify is reportedly looking to launch the new \u2018Supremium\u2019 tier in the \u201cnon-US markets first.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

It will be interesting to see how Spotify prices its new Hi-Fi tier in countries like India, where the service is already more expensive than services from the likes of Apple and Amazon.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
