At that time, WhatsApp said that it was more of a <!-- -->Google<!-- --> and Android-related problem. \u201cWe believe this is a bug on Android that mis-attributes information in their Privacy Dashboard and have asked Google to investigate and remediate,\u201d WhatsApp had said then. Now, Google has confirmed and acknowledged the issue. In a tweet, Google said that \u201cA recent Android bug affecting a limited number of WhatsApp users produced erroneous privacy indicators and notifications in the Android Privacy Dashboard.\u201d<br \/>Google urged users to update WhatsApp as a fix had been rolled out to address the issue. \u201cWe thank WhatsApp for their partnership and apologise for any confusion this bug may have caused users,\u201d the company\u2019s Android Developers account tweeted. <br \/><span class=\"strong\">What was the Android bug?<\/span><br \/>In May, a <!-- -->Twitter<!-- --> engineer posted a tweet regarding a bug on WhatsApp. Foad Dabiri in a tweet noted that \u201cWhatsApp has been using the microphone in the background, while I was asleep and since I woke up at 6 AM (and that&#8217;s just a part of the timeline!) What&#8217;s going on?\u201d.
