Joining the list is Gannett, a major US-based media house. According to multiple online reports, <!-- -->Gannett<!-- --> is suing Google because of illegally monopolising the <!-- -->advertising<!-- --> technology market. <\/p>\n<p><b><br \/>\u2018Anti-competitive and deceptive scheme\u2019<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Gannett filed a complaint in the Southern District of New York. In the filing, Gannett argued that \u201cToday, online digital advertising is a $200 billion business \u2014 a nine-fold increase since 2009. Yet, despite the opportunity for publishers to produce more news content and earn more revenue, news publications\u2019 advertising revenue has declined by nearly 70% over the same timeframe.\u201d<br \/>The company believes that publishers do not see the growing ad spending \u201cbecause Google and its parent Alphabet unlawfully have acquired and maintain monopolies for the advertising technology (\u201cad tech\u201d) tools that publishers and advertisers use to buy and sell online ad space.\u201d<br \/>The media house accused Google of carrying out a deceptive scheme for the last 10 years. \u201cWith control over the largest ad exchange and ad server \u2014 both of which Google acquired rather than developed \u2014 Google has carried out a sophisticated, anti-competitive, and deceptive scheme for well over a decade,\u201d Gannett said in the complaint.<br \/><span class=\"strong\">What Google has to say<\/span><br \/>According to a report by CNBC, Dan Taylor, vice president, <!-- -->Google Ads, termed Gannett\u2019s claims as simply wrong. In a statement, he said, \u201cPublishers have many options to choose from when it comes to using advertising technology to monetise \u2014 in fact, Gannett uses dozens of competing ad services, including Google Ad Manager,\u201d Taylor said. \u201cAnd when publishers choose to use Google tools, they keep the vast majority of revenue.
