Realme has hit the final nail in BBK Electronics\u2019 coffin in the German market. According to a report by NextPit, the smartphone maker has announced its exit from the country. After Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus, Realme became the last smartphone manufacturer under the BBK Electronics corporate umbrella to quit the German market. The Nokiapatent was reportedly restricting the business of these brands in the country.The company has reportedly said that it will continue to focus on its core markets in other European countries.
Why these Chinese brands are leaving Germany<\/span>
As per the report, Realme\u2019s European unit has claimed that business in the country has “slowed down”. The downfall in the business happened due to some internal consultation and the pending Nokia lawsuit. The company is still waiting for a positive update regarding license negotiations with Nokia. After that, Realme can resume selected marketing measures in Germany, the report added.
Until then, the smartphone maker will reportedly utilise their budget for other European markets. This means that the newly released smartphones from the company — which includes Realme 11, Realme 11 Pro and the Realme 11 Pro + — will not be available in Germany. The report also adds that the company may face a similar fate in the French market as well.<\/p>\nGerman residents who are willing to buy the above-mentioned models will be able to buy them without any warranty or software updates from neighbouring European countries.
Realme\u2019s focus on other European markets<\/span>
The reason for Realme to exit the country may not only be the expected low consumer demand but also its potential advantage of shifting its focus to other core markets like Italy, Poland, Spain and the Balkans.
With a 5% market share, Realme is one of the top 4 smartphone manufacturers that recorded an 8% growth in 2022. In March, the Realme C55 smartphone was launched n Italy, Poland, Spain, Greece, and Romania. This mid-range smartphone alone recorded a”daily sales increase of 300%,\u201d the report notes. However, this smartphone is also not available in Germany.<\/div>\n
