They charge commissions of up to 30%, infamously known as Apple tax and Google tax, something which several app developers have had problems with.<br \/>Apple allows users of their phones to download <!-- -->iPhone<!-- --> apps only through their own app store. While in the case of Android, people can still download APK files from sources other than app stores. However, it is highly discouraged by both the company and cyber security experts.<br \/>According to the news agency, the government aims to submit a related bill to parliament next year.<br \/>In 2021, South Korea amended the Telecommunications Business Act to mandate those apps distributed by app market operators, Apple and Google, in the country be allowed to offer an alternative payment processing option within their apps.<\/p>\n<p>The tech giants then tinkered with their rules to comply with the local laws.<br \/><span class=\"strong \">Google, Apple&#8217;s <\/span><span class=\"strong \">in-app payment<\/span><span class=\"strong \"> problems<\/span><br \/>Earlier this year, a US court upheld a previous ruling which said that Apple was in violation of California&#8217;s Unfair Competition Law by preventing app developers from directing customers to alternative payment methods outside of the App Store.<br \/>Google was fined 1,337.76 crores in India in relation to app stores.
