Last Updated: June 06, 2023, 05:59 IST<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Washington D.C., United States of America (USA)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n The order requires Microsoft to take steps to improve privacy protections for child users of its Xbox system. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Microsoft will pay $20 million to settle U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) charges that the tech company illegally collected personal information from children without their parents\u2019 consent, the FTC said on Monday.<\/p>\n The company had been charged with violating the U.S. Children\u2019s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by collecting personal information from children who signed up to its Xbox gaming system without notifying their parents or obtaining their parents\u2019 consent, and by retaining children\u2019s personal information, the FTC said in a statement.<\/p>\n The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment late on Monday.<\/p>\n The order requires Microsoft to take steps to improve privacy protections for child users of its Xbox system.
