As reported by The Verge, Meta, being one of Apple\u2019s biggest competitors in the space\u2014held an internal meeting where Zuckerberg reassured employees that Apple\u2019s Vision Pro doesn\u2019t bring anything new\u2014which Meta had not already explored, and that there are no \u201ckind of magical solutions that they have to any of the constraints on laws of physics.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Zuckerberg dismissed the headset off as high-end hardware that makes \u201csense for the cases that they\u2019re going for.\u201d He said Apple chose to go with a high-resolution display and powerful internals, but this results in the headset having a power pack and wire attached to it, and called it a \u201cdesign trade-off.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Meta\u2019s vision is reportedly \u201cfundamentally social,\u201d and the company is focusing on ensuring that they target the mass market with affordable headsets that more people can use. The Verge further notes that Zuckerberg also acknowledged that Meta\u2019s upcoming Quest 3 VR headset will be significantly cheaper than Apple\u2019s $3499 Vision Pro, at just $499\u2014and it will help the company reach a wider user base.<\/span><\/p>\n

While Mark Zuckerberg may have dismissed the headset for now, it must be noted that Apple\u2019s reveal of the Vision Pro \u201cspatial computer\u201d headset marks the first major threat to Meta\u2019s Metaverse ambitions\u2014where it plans on building a \u201cfundamentally social\u201d world through headsets like the Meta Quest 3 and the higher-end Meta Quest Pro.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
